HAGERSTOWN FORD & SOUTHERN COMFORT CONVERSIONS, INC. - A Brief History

Southern Comfort Conversions, Inc. was created in 1979 by Rod McSweeney, a hot rod hobbiest, and has been extremely successful ever since. Twelve years ago, they started designing proprietary plastic parts and having them manufactured by others. But when they were unable to get to market fast enough, they decided to start manufacturing their own.

In November of 2006 Southern Comfort Conversions, Inc., moved into its new administrative headquarters and maufacturing facility located in Center Point, Alabama. This new location is the largest and most advanced conversion vehicle facility in the world with 532,000 square feet of space which is equivalent to over 12 acres. This new plant has allowed Southern Comfort Conversions to streamline its manufacturing processes by consolidating vehicle production, thermoforming, hydrographics and research and development under one roof. With a capacity of 200 vehicles in production under roof at one time, Southern Comfort Conversions has made it possible for dealers like us (Hagerstown Ford) to deliver exactly what our customers want faster than ever before.

In order to ensure the satisfaction of every Southern Comfort customer, Southern Comfort Conversions, Inc., had to make sure that only the most refined dealerships in the world were dealing with their customers. Each Certified Southern Comfort Conversion dealer must meet certain requirements in order to gain the privilege to sell the Southern Comfort product. For example, Hagerstown Ford is required to be a Blue Oval Certified dealership. We have met, and will continue to meet these standards to ensure that our customers have the opportunity to purchase what we feel is an outstanding automotive experience.
